Sony NEX-6 Here for Review

Sony sent us here at Photographic-Central (and AMW) a camera for review today, the *new* NEX-6 and 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. Here's A Sony NEX-6 Amazon Deal So I'll finally be able to put this camera to it's paces and let you all know what I think of it. That's right, yes I will! More to follow folks. The camera is charging and later on I will be using it low light as well as getting to know that menu system and getting the camera set up to my specifications. Lots in this little rangefinder styled camera to use, lots of tools oh yes, so I need time to get to know my new little friend...

Here's A Sony NEX-6 Amazon Deal

Ever since Sony announced the new NEX-6 and the new 16-50mm (24-75mm equivalent) lens, I've been itching to try it. Thanks to Sony, we have one in house now and I will be putting it through my normal real life rigorous photographic testing.  I have one review to fulfill (G15) before I work on this one but that will give me time to use it and get to know the NEX-6 properly anyways. Stay tuned for my comments on one of the most exciting cameras of 2012.

Cheers,
Carl

  1. Nope, haven't published it yet. Was told a big firmware update was coming to address many issues of the interface, have yet to see it.

  2. Hopefully the new FW will give it an Alpha menu (option at least). Pinch myself dreaming again... but it's about the only thing preventing me from implementing NEX into my Alpha lineup... after trying NEX7 for six months... sold.

Looking forward to your excellent review Carl.

  3. The new PZ1650 PowerZoom 16-50mm Lens is horrible! If you want to get decent IQ from a NEX,
get the Sigma Prime Lenses for the NEX System...the PZ here is much less sharp and got more
CAs then my simple 20-50mm NX Kitlens for my Samsung NX100. Just check out the Dpreview Samples,
and you'll easily get the point.

  4. Yah not really a fan of the optical quality of the 16-50 for critical expectations, but its compact and relatively inexpensive for the Nex lineup. A good addition to the lineup for the avg. photog. I like its wide angle especially.
