For some GPS isn't important, and to some others it is. I've never really used it but plan on using it with the S100. I'll give it try and make a comment about it at some point I'm sure. Thanks for the reminder.

C

For Anon: The lens error was corrected early in the production cycle for the S100 and Canon issued a voluntary recall to any owners that had one in the specified serial number ranges- a fix it for free option to them.
My camera does not show any issues with the lens after I did my landscape testing on it yesterday. The grip alone makes it worth the buy over the S110 for me. I don't like making photographs with a bar of soap. That's just me though.

CarlCarl Garrardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01561256121516104816noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6938824791812834583.post-89903772090388065322013-01-02T11:18:55.386-08:002013-01-02T11:18:55.386-08:00Carl ... Talk about a super feature for travel photography! Canon lost it (in essence) on the S110 and Sony missed the boat as well with the RX100. Not sure if this has been corrected with the S110, but hopefully.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6938824791812834583.post-28691968763671408352013-01-01T11:19:01.558-08:002013-01-01T11:19:01.558-08:00Hi Nick,

I'm very happy with the camera, particularly given its size (used for work - engineering site visits - and family). The camera had some water damage - aperture priority works fine - flash does not. But probably a matter of time before it simply quits for good. We've accumulated "Sony Points" on an old credit card. The cc is long gone, but we can redeem the points towards Sony products. Bottom line - we can get either the S100 or the Sony RX100 for under $300. I'm sure either will work fine - but relative pro and con comments welcome. Thanks in advance.
A Very Happy New Year to you and yours. NickAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
